Will cloud computing cross the chasm in 2013

I’ve came across various  predictions for cloud computing in 2013 and will this one i have found worth mentioning in my blog post.

“Hybrid cloud will enter the hype cycle as enterprises cross the process chasm between private and public clouds and data centers”.

Crossing the Chasm is closely related to the technology adoption life cycle where five main segments are recognized; innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority and laggards.The most difficult step is making the transition between visionaries (early adopters) and pragmatists (early majority). This is the chasm that Geoffrey A. Moore  has  referred to in his book. If a successful product can create a bandwagon effect in which enough momentum builds, then the product becomes a de facto standard.

In year 2013 ,New and existing multi-tier apps will be orchestrated across clouds for cloud migration,cloud cloning and cloud fail over as the first generation of enterprise grade hybrid cloud solutions.  These solutions will allow high performance IT teams to deliver services faster, more efficiently and reliably than other teams stuck in dedicated hardware lock-in traps.  Over time these new solutions will have a powerful impact on how IT teams are organized and how the acquire new technologies, because they represent superior operating models.
