Its curtains down on the biggest cloud conference of the year!

AWS Re:Invent 2013 was easily the biggest Cloud conference this year with over 8000 attendees, 175+ sessions and boot camps. This year’s keynotes had elements addressing enterprise needs/concerns and those of web-based businesses & start-ups.

This first day saw the launch of several new services with Andy Jassy (SVP, AWS) announcing:

• Workspaces - virtual desktops on the cloud with persistent storage for access across devices
• Appstream - for running CPU/GPU intensive apps on the cloud and streaming the output to devices
• CloudTrail - logs for AWS API activity

The second day’s keynote by Warner Vogels (CTO, AWS) was more technically focused with launches including:

• Kinesis - for real-time processing of stream data such as click-streams, marketing data, logs, social media, etc.
• New affordable SSD-based C3 and I2 instance types
• Global secondary indexes on DynamoDB
• RDS for Postgres
• Cross-region read replicas for RDS
• Cross-region snapshots for RedShift
• AWS SDK for Javascript on the browser
