Neev developed a portal for an Australian Industry representative body using its Open Source CMS, Active Site wCMS. The portal supported many features like a site-wide search, podcast, subscription to news, hosting webcasts and embedded videos. The clutter-free interface allowed the client to post content like blogs, articles, news, etc. on the portal on a regular basis without any technical know-how.
Australia’s Copper Development Centre acts as a representative body for mining, manufacturing, production and recycling companies in the country. It facilitates coordination of policy, research, knowledge and business strategies. It also acts as an advocate for the copper industry with Government, media and the community.
The client required Neev to build a portal to display news, articles, and blogs and support embedded Youtube videos. The portal also had to enable visitors to search through it and subscribe to news. A podcast feature was also required to be implemented that enabled visitors to stream audio files as well as download them. The portal was also required to host webcasts on a variety of topics. Since the client required to frequently publish content on the site, it required us to build a clutter-free interface for it.
Neev scope of work involved the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). At the start of the project, a thorough evaluation was done between Java and ActiveSite for development. Since the site did not involve a lot of complexity, ActiveSite was chosen. Google Custom Search API was used to implement the site-wide search feature. Jquery API was used for frontend. PostgresSQL was integrated with the CMS.
Performance issues with high response times, frequent session expiry and server errors were overcome using Apache.
