A Magento-Based Ecommerce Portal for a Leading Apparel Brand

Neev developed an eStore on Magento for a leading apparel and lifestyle brand enabling them to mark their first eCommerce footprint. Apart from selling readymade garments, the eStore also allows buyers to opt for a dress material, input their measurements and get a custom - stitched garment delivered to their doorstep.

The Client

Established in 1932, Mysore Saree Udyog was a seller of gold thread for use in sarees. Today it is a manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of silk sarees, dress material and other accessories. With their flagship store situated in Bangalore, India, Mysore Saree Udyog has established itself in the clothing and apparel space as a reliable provider of high-end products catering across market segments, with specific focus on Indian ethnic weaves. It has been named as one of the top 10 must-visit shopping destinations in the world by Vanity Fair Germany, a famous magazine.

Business Need

Neev was required to build an online store for sale of high-end apparels like sarees, bridal wear, men’s wear, home furnishing solutions, bags and other accessories. The fashion retail space being as competitive as it gets, the client was looking to differentiate itself by providing tailoring services as well. This meant that the user could buy unstitched material through their site, input their size measurements and opt for a customized stitched piece of garment to be delivered to oneself. The client also required us to help customers choose the colors of their garments and accessories.

Neev Solution

Neev approached the task at hand by first doing an extensive requirement gathering phase. This meant interactions with all key stakeholders and a deep understanding of the various use cases. The interface thus designed using a custom Magento theme was high on user experience and usability. MVC paradigm was used to allow flexibility in independent testing and re-usability. This was particularly crucial in enabling a quick turnaround.

As part of the payment process, integration with the FedEx system was performed to push invoicing and logistics related information. The backend had to process and display large volumes of data as is typical of eCommerce portals. An Inventory Management via web services was opted for. The system had to collate, manage and promote inventory, to streamline online showrooms and provide potential buyers the most updated information.
